Which apps does it work in?+

Typeside works in most apps where you can type, including mail, chat, document editors and browsers.

What permissions does it need?+

Accessibility permission lets Typeside insert text at your cursor. Microphone, speech recognition and screen recording permissions are requested when you first use the features that need them.

What do I get for free?+

Autocomplete, dictation, Improve, Translate and Summarize are free. They run on your Mac and work offline once the required models are downloaded. Prompt mode, Shorten, Expand and your own skills are available with Pro.

Do I have to download an AI model?+

Autocomplete, Improve, Translate and Summarize require a base AI model download. With Pro, you can choose additional models, and download sizes vary by model. You can skip model downloads during setup and get them later.

Do I need my own API key?+

No. Pro features can also run on your Mac. To use a cloud AI service, connect it with your own API key.

How many devices can I use?+

With Pro, one license covers up to three devices. You can remove devices you no longer use from My Account.

Do I have to sign in?+

Free features work without signing in. For Pro, enter your license key in the app. Sign in on the website to manage your license and registered devices.

Does my writing go to a server?+

Your writing is processed on your Mac. It is sent to a cloud AI service only when you use a service you have connected. Typeside servers do not receive or store your writing. Your voice is also processed on your Mac.
